On the planet Valdacki a very successful invasion is already underway. And it’s one that has the very best PR.

4. The Chiswick Cuckoos by Matt Fitton

Donna’s home, but she’s not quite herself. Sylvia couldn’t be more pleased to see her daughter finally getting on with her life.

ATA Girl is a drama inspired by the real women of the Air Transport Auxiliary during WWII. From the UK and beyond, 168 female pilots, alongside the men, transported a vast range of aircraft from the factories to the squadrons, sometimes flying in perilous weather conditions and without radios or instrument instruction.

One in ten ATA pilots died.

Following on from the first quartet of stories, the female pilots of the Air Transport Auxiliary find themselves caught up in one of the most historic air raids of WWII, alongside a more personal drama that ends in tragedy.  Later, despite the end of the war being in sight, the 'battles' more close to home continue; the disappearance of a pilot remains unresolved and it seems that a terrible crime may go unpunished.

The Hardest Day by Helen Goldwyn

18th August 1940. What begins as a routine ferry assignment to Kenley Airfield becomes one of the most dramatic days of WWII, when a vast German raid descends upon the base. Led by commander Pauline Gower, the pilots (some familiar, some new) are tasked with saving as many aircraft as they can and a race against time - and the enemy - ensues.

Back at base, ambitious First Officer Henry Lloyd and war photographer, Faith, help survivors, but during the mayhem, an horrific crime is perpetrated... and it seems the culprit will never be brought to justice.

Au Revoir by Louise Jameson

1944-45. Paris has been liberated and the allies are gaining ground at last. The ATA women see in the new year with the hope of peace in the sight, but there are still old mysteries to be solved and painful losses to endure. Will they ever find out what happened to one of their missing pilots and can hard-nosed pilot Felicity repay the dangerous debt she owes?

Meanwhile, a friendship between newly engaged Rhiannon and black Canadian pilot, Gabriel, creates waves of disapproval, but Rhiannon is in more danger than anyone realises. Her war has only just begun.

It’s the near future, and mankind has expanded its presence in space. Maintaining law and order beyond Earth is the responsibility of the International Space Police Force, known colloquially as the Star Cops. Their leader is Commander Nathan Spring.

There are no Star Cops on Mars, and Nathan Spring intends to put that right. He travels to the red planet hoping to rally the colonists’ support for setting up an ISPF office, but he faces resistance from those who feel Mars has no need of police.

Soon, though, Nathan and his officers are involved in incidents of theft, violence and murder. They may get the chance to prove they’re needed, if they can get through their investigations alive.

2.1 The New World by Andrew Smith

Nathan, Devis and Kenzy arrive on Mars after a six-month journey from Earth. They’ve come to set up a Star Cop base, but Mars is a very different environment from the one they’re used to on the moon. They have their work cut out to convince some colonists of the need for law enforcement. They have no powers, no guns, and few friends.

Nathan sees an opportunity to prove their worth when there are reports of water thefts and disorder at a colony near Olympus Mons. He and Kenzy are invited to investigate, unofficially. Then a body is discovered, and the Star Cops have to work fast to prevent tensions escalating into further violence.

2.2 The Shadow of This Red Rock by Una McCormack

Nathan and Kenzy find themselves marooned in the Martian desert with a prisoner whose friends will soon arrive to attempt a violent rescue. Help arrives in the form of a reclusive colonist. Soon they’re all being chased across the desert by the prisoner’s friends, who seem able to anticipate every effort to shake them off.

Meanwhile, Devis has his own troubles. An attempt to come to his friends’ rescue goes wrong, and he finds himself at the mercy of colonists who hold his life in their hands.

Matters will come to a head in a perilous stand-off on the four-mile-high cliffs of the Mariner Valley canyon.

2.3 Whatever Happened to Gary Rice? by Guy Adams

After the Star Cops receive a cryptic message about a man who may once have worked at a colony in the Argyre Basin, they make their way there to investigate. They find a co-operative community that thrives by growing an organic food source, which it sells to other colonies. But no-one seems to remember the man the Star Cops are looking for.

Nathan visits a neighbouring scientific research base, where nutritionist Dr Julienne Grainger has information that may resolve the mystery of the missing colonist.

As the Star Cops get closer to discovering the truth, there are those who are prepared to kill to keep it secret.

Can You Hear Me?

The Haunting of Villa Diodati was the eighth episode of series 12 of Doctor Who.

It offered an alternate account of the conception of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley to that of the audio story Mary's Story featuring the Eighth Doctor, though with the story acknowledging that what it was depicting was the result of history becoming unusually flexible around that night.

The episode featured the return of the Cybermen, in their first television appearance since 2017's The Doctor Falls and their first encounter with the Thirteenth Doctor. Specifically, the story properly introduced the Lone Cyberman, as well as its motivations, after he had been mentioned by Jack Harkness in Fugitive of the Judoon.

Synopsis edit

The Doctor and her companions visit Mary Shelley on the fateful night in 1816 when she creates Frankenstein but all is not as it seems. The rooms of Villa Diodati keep shifting around and ghosts are stalking the halls. And the group soon remember a familiar warning: "Beware the Lone Cyberman. Do not let it have what it wants". But why is Percy Shelley not where he should be according to history?

From zombies in Restoration London, to Hell gatecrashing a funeral, rogue Time Agent Captain John Hart leads the universe to rack and ruin in four new adventures written by David Llewellyn.

1. The Restored

Captain John is in Restoration England looking for some gauntlets. There's intrigue in the Tower of London, the dead are walking the streets, and the severed head of Oliver Cromwell has a terrible warning.

2. Escape from Nebazz

Captain John is in a wooden space prison that's under attack by a strange and terrible life form. Also the catering is truly dreadful and Dr Magpie's latest discovery may have got a little out of hand.

3. Peach Blossom Heights

Captains John and Jack find themselves stranded on a world that may be actual paradise - the weather is pleasant, the people are friendly, and the giant stuffed animals only come out at night. There's only one thing the world is missing. No-one has ever explained to any of the population about the birds and the bees. Which is unfortunate.

4. Darker Purposes

Captain John arrives at the funeral of one of the galaxy's richest men. He died without making a will, and his heirs have some very creative ideas about how this can be put to rights involving murder, necromancy and seduction. Sadly, Captain John is only too happy to oblige.
